Season 5 Preview - Drivers to Watch!

Hello!

Season 5 of F1/FIA is just around the corner, and here is a quick preview what drivers you should be watching out on track!

DRIVERS TO WATCH

Alonso - Red Bull

As this is his title defense season, Alonso will definitely be pushing for a 2nd title!

Wmetcalf74 - Red Bull

As the Season 4 runnerup, and Alonso's biggest rival, will Wmet be able to outperform his champion teammate?

kevinxd559000 - McLaren

Coming into his 2nd season of Formula 1, and his 2nd season with McLaren, will this talented driver be able to pull out more surprises this season?

TheCyclone29 - Lotus

With a big reputation and comeback to Formula 1, will Cyclone still have his touch from his former team at Williams?

ForzaRogo - Caterham

Although having bad luck throughout Season 4, Forza is a quick driver and has plenty of potential. Will he be the shining star of Season 5?

AntonyONE - Toro Rosso

Under the establishment of the Red Bull/Toro Rosso alliance, Antony was immediately picked by Elfroggo to drive for the team. Can he pull off some good results?

Kaboom321

After a rough Season 4, will Kaboom be able to make a comeback for himself and Toro Rosso?

Interviews!

Our first interview is with Red Bull Racing Team Boss, Davis2Nguyen

Me (M) Davis (D)

M: So Davis how do you feel about having an all star driver lineup?

D: It feels good actually. It feels nice to have the top 2 of Season 4 on my team. Hopefully they don't lose their touch.

M: Any issues you foresee about having the two biggest rivals of S4 on your team?

D: I think they'll take their rivalry in a good manner. They have very good chemistry so I don't think they'll try to kill each other. Red Bull Racing is not only a good team but mature also.

M: Haha, very nice. Now onto the big question. Do you think Red Bull will win the constructors championship?

D: I don't know, I think we can get very high though. There are many great teams ready to challenge us. Perhaps our biggest rival are Mercedes. I see many talented people on teams that accept them. So our constructors championship path will be difficult. But I want my drivers to succeed because the constructors championship is mostly my issue.

M: Thank you for your time, and good luck with your team at Catalunya.

D: Thanks! You too.

And now our second interview, Sahara Force India driver OrangeInterkit!

Me: How do you feel about Catalunya? Is it a track you feel you can do well at?

Orange: I personally believe that I will do average.

M: How does the car feel? Remember that your car is similar to design as the championship winning car from S4.

O: It feels pretty good. At Catalunya there is some minor tire wobble and some lag on the frontstretch. However I'd say the car is great.

M: How do you feel about your teammate, the rookie Sergent?

O: I feel average however I know that he will strive to be the best as he is a friendly guy wanting to do the best that he can, and I am happy he is part of the team.

M: What position are you aiming for in the drivers championship?

O: I am striving to be top 10, perhaps closer to 7th place.

M: Alrighty then, thank you for your time.

Our third and final interview is Thorpey5599, reserve for Lotus.

M: So how do you feel about being a reserve?

T: I love the fact that I'm a reserve! I am a big fan of racing and I can finally get an opportunity here! I am really thankful to Lotus for giving me a reserve spot.

M: Very well, will you be racing at Catalunya?

T: Unfortunately not, as my internet went out today and is not estimated to be back until 4PM GMT.

M: Aw tough break. What about Erik Cassel Raceway, will you be racing there?

T: I am pretty sure I will be able to race at ECR but we'll have to wait and see.

M: Okay, thank you for your time.

T: No problem.

First race is just hours away. Are YOU ready?

Catalunya is coming up, at 9 AM GMT. And there are several stories that are developing in the hours before the race.

Red Bull and Scuderia Toro Rosso alliance
Obviously the main talking point is this alliance. Red Bull has the top two in the championship last season, Wmetcalf74 and AlonsoF1. Scuderia Toro Rosso has two amazing drivers in Kaboom321 and AntonyONE. And they are an alliance. Many expect these two teams to dominate this season, but you never can tell. Will team orders be a factor? Let's find out.

AlonsoF1 and Wmetcalf74 together
Another major talking point is these two. They are on the same team, Red Bull Racing. They provided us some amazing battles in Season 4, with Alonso coming out on top in the majority. Alonso claims it to be fun and intense, and I'm sure Wmet feels the same way. Davis2Nguyen, the Red Bull team boss, must be THRILLED with this lineup.

Rookies this season
There aren't a lot of rookies this season, but there are a few. Sergent44, Force India's number two driver, has shown a bit of promise in preseason testing. As well as some others, this will be an interesting season for rookies. Will anybody become the next Alonso?

A season outlook for all the teams

Red Bull: With two all-star drivers, it is clear that they are the team to beat.

Toro Rosso: Two above average drivers should mean that they are going to be solid.

Force India: Has a decent driver in Orange and an unproven in Serg. Serg's performance will determine how well the team does.

Caterham: ForzaRogo is an all-star driver, but AreaDestroyer has been rather inactive recently. The hope for them is that Area gets more active.

McLaren: This is a good team. Kevin and Oka are both very good drivers, and this team will be strong.

Lotus: With Goodsamy, who has a lot of talent, and Cyclone making his comeback, this should be a very good team.

Mercedes: Jim isn't the most active driver in the world but he gets it done when he attends. Raf is consistent but DNF's a lot. These guys might do great or they might do horrible.

Marussia: We don't know much, no drivers have been confirmed and TB McLarenHonda is nowhere to be seen.

Ferrari: Crazypizza isn't a terrible driver however the other driver is unsure as Bobby is not in the league. However they do have a reserve core with KingAli and Nirvik.

Williams: No drivers have been confirmed and JackTheSpeed hasn't been seen in a long time.

Sauber: DanoFett is a new TB and possibly he doesn't understand that he's supposed to sign drivers? Maybe?
